Bird Books

This popular guide was the first of the original Lane/Holt birdfinding guides to undergo a thorough revision when the American Birding Association assumed ownership of the series in 1990. It seems that change is synonymous with Southern California, and to keep the book useful and current a new edition has been prepared.

New to this edition are chapters covering sites for finding California Condors, Death Valley National Park, Antelope Valley, and much more. The helpful seasonal abundance/regional occurrence bar-graphs have been updated, and the Specialties Section is larger. Most chapters describe loop trips designed to take birders through the most productive birding locales. Over 60 brand new route maps show the details of where to stop, and the text describes which birds can be expected at each locale. Emphasis is placed on helping birders locate the region's many specialty birds.
